7 months in the making and the day is finally here. Our kitchen renovation is D-O-N-E! I am doing a big ol’ happy dance… partially because I’m excited about the renovation, but also because I no longer have to cook in a half-finished kitchen. LOL.
Let’s get started by taking a step back in time…
Kitchen at Move-in
I remember thinking how uuugly this kitchen was when we moved in (I mean, compared to my dream kitchen – LOL). The cabinets had an outdated wood finish and everything was a blah-colored tan. The laminate countertops felt cheap and the black appliances were… dirty. Barf.

Well, hello, friends! You’ve caught me on a great day because it’s time for ANOTHER bathroom makeover reveal!!! This time, it’s a guest bathroom makeover. As ou might recall, we’ve already completed our master bathroom makeover as well as our upstairs bathroom renovation. You can say we’re experts by now, ha! They’re all pretty, and so is this one. Let me tell you, you’re in for a treat!
Like our master bath, this guest bathroom was a big blob of tan.
Thankfully, this tan blob was short-lived. With a lot of love, caulk, and elbow grease, this bathroom tRaNsFoRmEd!!!

Did you hear that? I think those were angels singing all the way from heaven.
I love me a little reveal day, don’t you?! Home improvement projects have gotten a bit more difficult since becoming parents, but we’re learning the ropes! Griffin naps for longer stretches now so we’re able to work together more during naps. But ALAS! I’m excited to share some before + afters today! We completed this guest bedroom makeover over just TWO WEEKENDS and while it’s not all dressed up yet, this room has come a long way with a little paint and new trim.
This room was not-so-affectionately called the “junk room” and the “hot air balloon room.” It’s a spare bedroom at the top of the stairs that was used for throwing our home improvement tools and supplies in, among other junk. It was in desperate need of some TLC!
Well, the day has FINALLY arrived! The project that I thought we’d finish over spring break (in March, LOL), was finally completed mid-April! We have FINISHED painting our kitchen cabinets! It’s made a huge impact and it cost significantly less than replacing them.
As with any new project, we did quite a bit of research on the proper way to paint cabinetry. We’ve made some mistakes painting furniture in the past so we wanted to make sure we did it the right way… especially since it’s in the kitchen and they need to be durable as heck!
Our kitchen cabinets were this mid-2000’s wood finish. To me, they look kind of cheap and super outdated. They also make the kitchen feel smaller than it could be.
Well, my peeps, it’s officially less than one month until my due date! I’m trying to hold the phrase “due date” loosely, as I know Baby Rissler will come on his own time. At 36 weeks, I am MORE than ready to meet this lil dude! I’m probably one of the few women in the world who is actually excited for labor. LOL! Bring it on!!
It’s a CRAZY EXCITING day over here…. it’s REVEAL DAY!! Now, I know I shared a nursery sneak peek in August, but now everything is finally ready for its newest inhabitant. Weeeeee!!
Before we dive in, can I just share a picture of this room from when we moved in?? This was possibly my least favorite room in the whole house – there was cat litter and cat urine everywhere in the carpet and drips of who-knows-what on the wall. Seriously, nast. No worries though, we have new carpet and new paint and disinfected everything!
Ciao from (probably) the other side of the world! We are in Italy right now and I’ve been trying to get this post up for about 5 days, but WiFi has been so intermittent and shoddy that I’ve had a little trouble. But alas, here it is! PS – it is BEAUTIFUL here!!!
Alright, guys. As you might know, we’ve been on a roll with our bathroom renovations this year! They all needed a serious facelift and we’ve finally finished our THIRD and FINAL bathroom! We started over New Year’s weekend with our master bathroom, in February we finished our guest bathroom, and just this month we finished our upstairs bathroom makeover which is what I’m revealing today!
Well, Happy New Year, everyone!! I hope 2017 has been treating you well! Ours involved giving our master bathroom a much-needed makeover. Seriously. It was (what I like to call) “Arizona Builder’s Tan. Our whole house was this color when we moved in. I was basically drowning in it, LOL.
So, over New Years weekend we did a big ol’ home renovation – painting the walls and cabinets, adding an accent wall, framing our mirror, and hanging some farmhouse style decor!
Without further adieu…

Master Bathroom Makeover After!
Holy blue, holy fresh! Can you believe this is the same bathroom? I can’t. Let’s keep on keepin’ on.
Back in July, you might remember the beginning of our master bedroom floor makeover. We even live streamed it on Facebook when we ripped out the carpet (watch it here), which was hilarious and disgusting.
Well, 4 months later (because that’s how all DIY projects go, right??), I am ECSTATIC to reveal our FINISHED (for now!) bedroom!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *cue round of applause and joyous whistles*
In our final set-up we moved our bed to a different wall, so don’t get confused in the pictures!
