In the midst of our 7-month kitchen renovation, I actually took some time to re-organize our kitchen! If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll remember that I went a little crazy in July trying to get my $h!t together. My house was a MESS (thanks, PPD) and I was able to clear out tons of stuff. I felt liberated afterward! Anyway, I realized that I never actually shared all my reorganization on the blog, so I’m sharing it today! I hope these kitchen organization ideas will bring you some inspiration and motivation to organize your kitchen.
Wait! Start with this.
Before you go crazy and buy 15 racks and 27 bins, I want you to live your normal life in your kitchen for just a couple more days. As you’re going about your day, use my free Kitchen Organization Planner (below!) to make a list of specific things that annoy you about your kitchen. Like, “I hate when my pans fall over every time I get one out.” Or, “It’s hard to get bowls out when they’re stacked on each other.”
Once you’ve written a list of all the things you want to fix, THEN start looking for solutions! If you go straight to Amazon or IKEA and start shopping, it will be hard to know exactly what you NEED. We’re decluttering + organizing here, people!
Kitchen Organization Ideas
How to Organize Kitchen Towels
One of my favorite (albeit simple!) kitchen organization ideas was to roll my kitchen towels and put them in a basket. I love rolling towels because it makes them easier to grab and they stay tidier than folding. You might remember that I rolled all my towels in my bathroom closet makeover (still lookin’ great, I might add!)! Anyway, I was about to get rid of this basket but instead, I used it in a cabinet to hold my kitchen towels. Being able to easily grab out a clean kitchen towel (instead of fiddling through a messy pile) has relieved a weird amount of stress!
How to Organize Kitchen Utensils
For some reason, I never liked drawer organizers. I had some weird vendetta against them. I just didn’t feel like they actually worked very well. Well, I got pretty fed-up with utensils getting lost in the back of the drawer so I decided to invest in a few drawer organizers from IKEA (so cheap!). Spoiler alert: LOVE THEM! Stuff doesn’t get shoved to the back of the drawer anymore! Take a look at these before and afters!
How to Organize Baking Pans
I had all my baking sheets stacked in a cabinet and they were constantly falling over. It also caused an unnecessary amount of stress. I’d seen a “hack” to use a file folder organizer and had been meaning to find one, but instead, I picked up this organizer at the Container Store. I’m seriously in love! It’s so easy to slide pans in and out without them all falling over!
How to Organize the Junk Drawer
Oh, did I mention that drawer organizers are my new best friend? Yes? Okay, let me demonstrate again. LOL.
How to Organize Bowls
Another thing that annoyed me in the kitchen was having plates and bowls piled on each other. I found a little wire shelf at the Container Store that helps hold up plates and bowls. It lifts the bowls above the plates so everything is way easier to access!
I also love using those little shelves in my pantry. They’re useful for organizing several little things, like these teas, coffee, and drink mixes!
It’s a Work in Progress…
I’m not quite done organizing my kitchen yet. My biggest pain point right now is finding the best solution for organizing my food storage containers. I’ll update when I find my favorite solution!
I hope these kitchen organization ideas gave you some inspiration and motivation to organize your kitchen! As I continue to find more ways to organize my kitchen I’ll update this post, so make sure to pin this post for later!
